Indoor activities
I offer a mixture of adult-
• I build learning into everyday activities such as cooking and going to the shops
• We do lots of art and crafts activities including painting, finger painting, junk modelling, collage work, play dough and cutting
• I provide sensory activities for the children to explore, which helps build nerve connections, develops motor skills and encourages ‘scientific thinking' and problem solving
• We dance, sing, do music and movement, imaginative play, water, sand, number rhymes
and make-
• Activities are designed to allow your child to explore and discover their own interests
• I take into consideration attention spans of different age groups
• We take regular trips to Acton library where your child can choose a book to take home
I'm committed to taking the children outdoors at least once a day (except in extreme
weather) because I believe fresh air and wide-
Around once a week, I take the children on fun, educational outings which could be anything from a zoo, farm, museum, to soft plays with role play areas, and many more.
Outdoor activities
• We have a large, fully enclosed back garden that the children use daily, and a covered balcony with sand and water table for rainy weather
• We frequent local parks once or twice a week so that we can get plenty of fresh air
• We visit woodland areas, farms and nature reserves throughout the year
How I help your child develop
I have completed a Level 3, CPD (Continuing Professional Development) accredited
and Ofsted-
It is my job to ensure that your child’s time in my care is happy and productive.
I offer all the benefits of a nursery in a safe, child-
Children need to:
• Play and explore -
• Be active learners -
• Create and think critically -
Enjoyable experiences
Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and the activities I plan take this into consideration. I plan challenging and enjoyable experiences for each child in all seven areas of learning and development.
1. Communication and language
2. Physical development
3. Personal and social development
4. Literacy
5. Mathematics
6. Understanding the world
7. Expressive arts and design

English as a second language
For children whose home language is not English, I strive to support the development of your child’s language.
• I ensure that the child has lots of opportunities to get their English to a good standard
• I provide opportunities for your child to use their home language in play
• I use ALEXA to translate words for me to communicate with your child
Exploring themes
I often do activities related to themes to do with diversity, health and safety, or learning about animals or the world around us. Some of which can be seen in the ‘Sample Activity Plan’ PDF below.
Some of the themes I might explore are listed in the ‘Activity Themes’ PDF below..
Childminding with a difference
What really sets my childminding setting apart from nurseries and other childminders,
aside from the home-
Group activities are particularly important to allow your child to get along with other children outside of a normal home setting.
2 to 3 times a week we go to:
• A local play group (for example, Maples Children's Centre, South Acton Children's Centre, West Acton Community Centre, or John Perryn Children’s Centre)
• A local park or woods (for example, Springfield Park, Acton Park, North Acton Playing Fields, Heathfield Nature Gardens, Highgate Wood, or the Gruffalo Trail in Perivale)
Once a week, or every other week we aim to go to:
• A local singing session (usually Mark in the Park at Acton Park)
• The library, where your child can choose a book to take home for the week
During the year, we will also try to visit, sometimes more than once:
• ZSL Zoo -
• A local soft play centre (normally Snakes and Ladders or Kidz1)
• Hanwell Zoo “Bunny Park”
• China Town around Chinese New Year, to see the amazing decorations
• A local duck pond to feed the ducks (Gunnersbury Park or Walpole park)
• A museum in central London (usually the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, or the London Transport Museum)
• The Gruffalo Trail in Perivale
• A local farm (usually Hounslow Urban Farm or Belmont Children’s Farm)
• Bekonscot Model Village and Railway
• Kew Gardens, to visit the Children’s Garden
• A local paddling pool or splash pad (either Duke’s Meadow or Ravenscourt Park)
All in all, if I have happy children, having fun and being stimulated and challenged at the same time in my care, then I feel happy that I am providing the best possible care for your child.
